According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers will hire 19.3 percent more graduates this year compared to last year. The group also says the starting salary for graduates has increased from $47,673 to $50,462 a year.
"The labor market has been improving. It's not good as it was in '06 and '07 obviously, but we've seen considerable improvement between last year and this year," said Anna Marie Conley, Regis University Economics Professor. "There's a lot of hope and reason to be optimistic in the next year or two."
Brandon Blessing is one of more than 600 undergrads that will graduate from Regis on Sunday.
"I'm trying to jump into a career and not just a job," said Blessing.
It is graduates like Blessing that in-demand fields like green energy, business and sales are recruiting.
"I'm still waiting to hear back from about a dozen applications and we'll see how that goes," said Blessing.
The National Association of Colleges and Employers say 42 percent of graduating seniors who applied for a job received an offer, which up four percent from last year.
